This sample lesson plan and sample assignment are designed for use in an undergraduate history or gender studies course.

In this lesson, students will work in small groups to discuss questions about the relationship between gender and migration/exile and the use of websites as a medium for historical research.

The assignment suggested for use in conjunction asks students to reflect upon the significance of gender in the experience and the work of exiles/migrants to the United States. They will use the resources of the Transatlantic Perspectives website to develop their ideas into an analytical essay, to be used as a basis for the next in-class discussion.
