Barbara Reiterer presented on “Vienna in America? Émigrés, Gender, and Social Science Careers in Vienna and the United States, 1930-1950: Elsa Leichter, Social Worker.”
Jan Logemann presented “From Vienna to Mass Market: Psychology, Interwar Socialism, and American Commercial Consumerism.”
The panel “Viennese Roots and American Careers: Transatlantic Biographies and Their Metropolitan Context” was organized with support from the German Historical Institute, Washington DC. Gary Cohen (University Minnesota) gave the comment and Marsha Rozenblit (U Maryland) was the moderator.
